Interior views for every trim, sharper search

Interior views now belong to the car: every trim and body style of a model generation gets the dashboard and centre console. Search no longer returns a different model.

October 10, 20266 changes

Improved

  • Interior views (dashboard, center_console) are shared by all trims and body styles of the same model and year (the year its model generation started). A trim keeps its own interior images; only missing interior views are added from another trim of the same car, the same body style first.
  • /api/getall, the catalog endpoints and the image endpoints all include these views, so every listed view can be requested.
  • /api/getall lists the trim with the most exterior views first within each model, year and body style.
  • /api/search: names match regardless of spaces and hyphens (RS5 = RS 5, Uni-V = UNI-V). When the query names a brand, only its models are returned. A different model number is never a match (DB12 does not return DB11, X7 does not return X3). Engine designations lead to the model (Lexus IS250 → IS, BMW 530i → 5 series). A query without a matching model returns no results instead of unrelated models of the brand.

Changed

  • Entries with interior views only (no exterior views) are no longer listed when the car has exterior images; their interior is part of every other trim now. Their paths keep working and lead to the matching trim with exterior images.
  • When a car has API v2 add-on images for a model year and body style, trims of the same car with older images only are no longer listed. Their paths keep working and lead to the add-on car, which also carries their interior views.
