Hotspots. Points on the car that turn with it.

The API marks wheels, lights, mirrors and grille in every image and in every frame of a spin. Pin your own content to them: details, notes, links.

Close-ups without cropping by hand

Every image comes with its points, so a close-up is a crop around one of them. These are the front wheels of eight cars, each cut from its side view at rim-front-left.

Notes pinned to the right spot

A used car with its condition notes, each tied to a point. Switch the angle: the notes move with the car, and a point that cannot be seen is left out.

One parameter, one list

Add hotspots=true to any studio image or 360° ring. Each point comes with an id and its position as a fraction of the image, so it lands in the right place at every size and crop.

The points

Which of them a car has depends on the model. A point hidden in a view is left out of that view's list.

What people build with them

The points are the anchor; what hangs on them is yours. They work with every other option, from paint to plate to background.

  • Feature callouts in configurators that turn with the car.
  • Condition notes and equipment on used-car listings.
  • Close-ups of wheels, lights and grille for every car in stock.
  • Links from a point to a detail image, a video or a spec sheet.
  • Click data on which parts of the car people look at.

Questions about hotspots

Which points are there?

Wheels, headlights, tail lights, mirrors, grille, badges, bonnet, roof, boot and exhaust, depending on the model. Each image lists only the points that can be seen in it.

How do I place a point on the image?

Multiply x by the width and y by the height you show the image at. Both are fractions of the delivered image, so they hold for every size, ratio and fit.

Do 360° spins have hotspots?

Yes. With hotspots=true every frame of a ring carries its own list, so the points turn with the car.

Do the points change with paint, plate or background?

No. They belong to the angle: the same angle gives the same points in every colour, with every plate and background.

Do hotspots need the add-on?

Yes, they are part of the API v2 add-on, on studio angles and 360° spins.
